If malware manages to find its way onto your computer, it’s not going to want to go away. To make sure it stays on your computer, it will block any security software that can detect it and remove it. RKill addresses this situation by terminating known malware processes that block security software from running. It terminates these processes so that security software can scan your PC, find the malware infection, and remove it.

RKill works with 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10. You won’t have to install RKill to use it on any of these Windows editions. You just have to download an executable and run it.

Once you run RKill, a command prompt window will show up. On it you will see information about what RKill is doing: checking for services to stop, checking for processes to terminate, checking Registry for malware related settings, and so on.

Let RKill do its thing and, once it’s done, it will bring up a prompt that says “You should now be able to run your normal security programs so that you can scan for computer infections. A log file called RKill.txt has been created on your desktop and will be shown automatically. This file contains information on what actions were performed on your computer by RKill.”

RKill is free software. If you find value in RKill and you want to show your gratitude, you can do so in the form of a donation.

Malware may block security software from doing its job. RKill terminates known malware processes so that the security software can do its job and remove the malware infection.
